Dental Hygiene at Select Smiles

We want to help you maintain your teeth, gums and supporting tissues for your lifetime.

Dental Hygiene

At Select Smiles, we take a holistic approach to dental care. By looking comprehensively at your oral and overall health, we want to help you maintain your teeth, gums and supporting tissues for your lifetime.

Scale and Polish

Nothing compares to that sparkling clean feeling you have after having your teeth professionally cleaned. Though you maintain your oral hygiene with brushing and flossing at home, we can remove stains or the buildup of plaque that a toothbrush doesn’t touch.

We recommend you book in for a scale and polish or cleaning every six months. It can also be scheduled in conjunction with another service if needed.

First, plaque or tartar deposits are removed from every tooth surface. A polishing leaves the teeth smooth and clean. Fluoride is then applied to teeth to protect and strengthen them.

Hygiene Advice

We’ll be pleased to advise you on the best way to maintain your oral hygiene in between your periodic dental checkups. Children especially can benefit from these instructions, starting healthy habits early on in life.

Bad Breath Treatment

Nobody wants to have bad breath. We can help you overcome this embarrassing issue by assessing the cause of it. It’s a common problem that more than 90% of people experience. The reasons it occurs include smoking, gum disease, poor oral hygiene, infections, decay and more.

People may think that bad breath is treatable by using mouthwash. The truth is, however, that there is usually a deeper cause that must be addressed or the problem will worsen.
