Oral Health Therapist
Though she originally started her career in pharmacy and studied biomedicine, Michelle had always been interested in dentistry. She began by volunteering at a friend’s local practice then decided to pursue a Bachelor of Oral Health Science at La Trobe University Bendigo. The two components of her coursework included hygiene and therapy.
At the practice, Michelle performs oral examinations, general and deep cleanings, root planings, perio-analysis , periodic X-rays and all different types of radiography, and photography. She also does restorative work including fillings, extractions and more.
Building patient rapport and providing good health advice are two of Michelle’s favourite parts of her job. She loves working with people and especially helping nervous patients. “We work hard to try to undo patients’ negative past experiences elsewhere and make their experiences pleasant moving forward.”
Outside the practice, Michelle loves drawing as it’s therapeutic for her. She also enjoys keeping fit and shopping.
